Gardai issue appeal over murder Terence McKeever on Monaghan border

Gardai have issued an appeal today on the 40th anniversary of the murder of Terence McKeever, whose remains were found close to Mullaghduff Bridge, Cullyhanna, South Armagh.

Gardaí are renewing their appeal for information and are asking the public if they have any piece of information which they feel might be relevant to this investigation to make contact with them.

At approximately 6.50am on the morning of 16th June 1986, 30-year-old Terence (Terry) McKeever set out from his home at Pembroke Road, Ballsbridge, Dublin in a champagne-coloured BMW 735i registered no 'FIB 735'.

It is believed that he travelled north along the N2 from Dublin towards Co. Monaghan and was subsequently abducted in the vicinity of the Monaghan/South Armagh border area.

He was abducted somewhere during his intended route which would have included the N2 from Dublin, passing through Slane, Ardee, Monaghan and continuing his journey to Armagh Town.

His remains were discovered close to Mullaghduff Bridge, approximately 25 metres into Northern Ireland, where he was fatally shot.

Terence's car was recovered the following day, 17th June, in Carnagh, Co. Armagh.

On 18th June 1986, a blue Toyota Liteace van with stolen number plates 'UZY 125' was found abandoned of the N52 at Mapastown, Ardee, Co Louth.

This is believed to have been the vehicle used in the murder of Mr McKeever. The van had been stolen in Dundalk on 21st May 1986.
