A scrambler was seized by Gardai under new legislation in Co Monaghan on Friday night.
Gardai received a report of a scrambler being driven within a housing estate in Carrickmacross.
Gardai attended the area and observed a male on the scrambler.
The male was stopped by Gardai, and the scrambler was subsequently seized.
Under Grace’s Law, which came into effect in Ireland back in April, riding a scrambler in any public place (including roads, parks, and housing estates) is explicitly banned in Ireland.
Scramblers can only be legally used on private land by the owner or with the landowner's written consent, or at controlled, licensed sports events.
The legislation is named in memory of 16-year-old Grace Lynch, who was tragically killed by a scrambler bike in Finglas, Dublin.
The parents of teenager Grace Lynch, who was knocked down and killed by a scrambler bike in January, will appear before the committee this afternoon.
Politicians will hear today that four people have been killed in road traffic incidents involving scramblers since 2021.
