A nephew of some of the Mannok directors has been remanded on bail today to appear in court at a later date on charges of lying under oath and producing false documents in an earlier case against Bernard McGovern's brother.

A relative of some of the Mannok Directors has been returned to trial in Enniskillen on perjury and false representation charges.

During a committal hearing at Enniskillen Magistrates Court this morning, a judge agreed with the prosecution that Kevin Lunney’s nephew, 36-year-old Gareth Lunney, had a case to answer over a previous court case when he was found to have liedunder oath.

In that case, Gareth Lunney of Market Square, Derrylin also produced fake documentation to back up his false evidence.

The earlier case was brought by Gareth and his father Peter Lunney against Patrick McGovern whose younger brother, Bernard, was remanded on bail for seven months and then sentenced to three years, three months in prison for assaulting Kevin Lunney and fellow Mannok Director, Dara O’Reilly in 2019.

On March, 19th 2021, after learning of his brother’s prison sentence Patrick McGovern, approached the Lunney men at their Topchem business premises on Doon Road, Kinawley and an altercation ensued.

Patrick McGovern was then arrested on three charges of common assault, two charges of threats to kill Gareth and peter Lunney and one charge of criminal damage.

During his court case, Patrick McGovern admitted to verbally attacking the Lunney father and son, causing damage to a door but vehemently denied threatening to kill either man.

During his evidence in that case, Gareth Lunney, produced a letterhead from a tradesman for £500 worth of repairs to a door, however, the tradesman in question had earlier told police he had not done the work on the dates in question.

The repairman also told police, Gareth Lunney, had at the time asked him for a blank invoice but he refused.

Defence solicitors for Patrick McGovern put it to Lunney he was lying under oath and following further cross-examination, Lunney eventually accepted the repairs were never carried out and the £500 invoice was fraudulent.

Gareth Lunney was subsequently cautioned as he left the courtroom.

During today’s committal hearing Judge Alana McSorley agreed with prosecution solicitors that Lunney had a case to answer and remanded him on £200 bail to appear for arraignment at Dungannon Crown Court on September, 6th.
