'Gary was a gentleman, a real character, and he packed so much love and life into his short 28 years as a son, a brother, an uncle and a friend'

A Co Meath man who died in America earlier this month is to be repatriated back to his native Ballinlough.

28-year-old Gary Reilly was found dead in an apartment last week after he was reported missing in early May.

A GoFundMe page has been set up by Mr Reilly’s friends to help with the costs of bringing his body home.

Described by those who knew him best as a ‘gentleman’ and a ‘real character’, the late Gary Reilly will be accompanied home in the coming days by members of his family.

“Gary was a gentleman, a real character, and he packed so much love and life into his short 28 years as a son, a brother, an uncle and a friend,” a statement on the Page reads.

“His devastated family now have to face the arduous journey to San Francisco to bring Gary home.

“This fund will assist with all costs involved, and any remainder will be donated to the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust (KBRT) who have been an incredible support to the family during this difficult time.

“Gary had an impact on anyone who had the pleasure of meeting him, and we will all miss him dearly.”
