The Taoiseach and Tánaiste have announced a package of supports in response to the fuel crisis.
A special Cabinet meeting was called this evening to discuss the ongoing protests around the country.
The details of the government's package of supports are as follows.
Taoiseach Micheál Martin said the Government is extending temporary measures to reduce excise duty on petrol, diesel and marked gas oil to the end of July.
The postponement of the increase on carbon tax from May until the Budget in October.
The Government will be announcing a fuel subsidy support scheme for farmers and fisheries.
Micheál Martin said the package is a significant response to "real pressures" being felt by people.
It comes as the Government will face a no confidence motion in the Dáil on Tuesday.
