A horse had to be put down after it was found dumped injured in a field in Kingscourt at the weekend.
Gardaí in Bailieborough, along with a local vet, and members of the My Lovely Horse Rescue were alerted to the injured animal by the community on Sunday morning.
The horse was found seriously malnourished, with injuries to its leg, lying on its side.

Despite efforts from the locals to cover the horse and keep it warm, and work to fix the animals leg she had to be put down yesterday evening.
