Third to Sixth classes in Killygarry NS have been involved in the BLAST Artists in Schools project over the last few months. The programme was initiated by Creative Ireland and run in conjunction with the Education Centre in Monaghan.
Artists Karen McMahon, Martin Donohoe, Marian Crowe and Dwayne Kiernan worked with the pupils over a three-month period to develop their talents and skills. Tutor Aishling O'Reilly then recorded the ensemble for broadcast on Shannonside Northern Sound which will air tomorrow night, the 20th of May between 8 and 10 pm on the Wind That Blows.
School Principal, Serena Prior and the class teachers highlighted their determination to keep Irish music, song and dance at the heart of the pupils' development in the Co Cavan school.
