Walkers from the four corners of Ireland have started making their way to Knock Shrine.

The annual Peace Walk to Knock Shrine is a major pilgrimage tradition across Ireland and invites people to walk from various points including Derry, Belfast, Dublin, and Cork.

The walks, which span several days, are dedicated to praying for peace in the world, local communities, and personal hearts.

Up to 80 walkers coming in the direction of Belfast will pass through parts of Monaghan and Cavan over the next two days.

Thomas Loughran and other walkers from the Belfast area will be passing through Monaghan Town and Clones today.

Tomorrow workers will set off once again and pass through Belturbet and Ballyconnell.

Thomas Loughran takes part in this pilgrimage every year and says this walk is all about peace.

Speaking to Northern Sound, he recalled how one year, walkers like himself from the North prayed for the violence to stop and when they were walking into Knock one Sunday they were told that their efforts were not in vain and word got out that a ceasefire in the North was called.

It's hoped walkers will reach Knock this Sunday at approximately 2pm:
