A local councillor says banning mobile phones in all primary schools would be a step in the right direction.
Cllr Aine Smith says she would like to see an outright ban on under 16s using social media.
The local councillor who is also a teacher says phone pouches to date in schools have played a huge role.

Cllr Smith says students need to know that schools are a safe space and not to worry about what is being said on social media.
The Fianna Fail councillor says while there is so many benefits to using the internet, children shouldn't have access to social media.
She says it's an issue that she will continue to highlight in an effort to keep our children safer when it comes to accessing the internet.
