Local families left waiting several months for Irish passport

Passport waiting times are particularly concerning for new babies or first time passport holders.

Local families are missing flights to holiday destinations because some members can not get their passports issued in time.

The Irish Travel Agents Association says some families are waiting several months for a passport for a family member, particularly for new babies or first time passport holders.

Paul from Cavan plans to travel by air tomorrow with his family, however has not received the passport which he applied for at the end of February this year.

He describes the process as a "waiting game" and says he will either have to travel to Dublin or intercept the passport through the postal system before going to the airport.
