The Rural Safety Plan 2022-2024 was launched earlier this week at the National Ploughing Championships in Co Laois.
Cavan Monagan TD, Brendan Smith said the plan was important and would serve to strengthen the various strands of work being carried out in relation to rural safety.
He added the plan will also seek to enhance security in rural areas and reinforce confidence in people living in the countryside.

Deputy Smith said his party was "committed" to breathing new life into rural Ireland and ensuring that people "feel safe" in their communities.
He added a culture of safety must and should exist on the island of Ireland.
