A local Tidy Towns has signed up to a scheme that enables waste which would usually end up in a landfill to be recycled.

Castleblayney Tidy Towns has joined the “Crisp Packet Recycling Scheme” which is offered by Terra-Cycle.

Local resident Rosemarie Donnelly is running a publicly-accessible drop-off location at McMahon's SuperValu, where the community can drop off crisp packets for recycling.

For each shipment of waste, Terracycle will award points which can be redeemed as a monetary reward to the Tidy Towns charity.

Rosemarie says it’s a “great way to help both the environment and the local Tidy Towns charity” and she’s encouraged everyone in Monaghan to drop off their empty crisp packets and spread the work locally.
