Major fire at Kingscourt Community Enterprise building heart-breaking says local councillor

The community building was built in the 1990s and funded by locals and businesses in the area.

A fire that broke out in Kingscourt in the early hours of this morning has been brought under control.

At approximately 2:30am, Cavan County Fire Service was alerted to the blaze an an enterprise centre on the Kells Road.

Units from Kingscourt, Virginia and Bailieborough attended the scene, and worked through the night and up until lunchtime today to bring the fire under control.It is believed that seven separate businesses have been destroyed in the blaze overnight.The units have been completely destroyed in the fire which will result in a major job loss for the area.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

The community building was built in the 1990s and funded by locals and businesses in the area.

The Kingscourt Playcentre adjoining the community facility will remain closed today until an assessment of damage takes place.
