Man 'released without charge' in Tullamore murder investigation

Vigils for Ms Murphy will take place across Cavan and Monaghan tomorrow

The man who had been arrested by Gardai investigating the killing of Ashling Murphy has been released without charge

The primary school teacher was attacked while out for a run along the canal in Tullamore, Co Offaly yesterday afternoon.

Gardai believe the 23 year old's killer may have been riding a mountain bike at the time of the assault.

They're appealing for any locals who've seen a Falcon Storm bike with yellow and green front forks to contact them.

Commissioner Drew Harris says a national effort is going into the murder investigation.

An Garda Síochána continues to appeal for any information on a Falcon Storm mountain bike with straight handlebars and distinctive yellow/green front forks.

People with any information on this fatal assault, who may not already have spoken to investigators, are being asked to come forward with that information.

Gardaí are appealing to any persons that were in the Cappincur/Canal walk area of Tullamore, County Offaly before 4pm, yesterday afternoon Wednesday, 12th January 2022, to make contact with them.

Vigils for Ms Murphy will take place across Cavan and Monaghan tomorrow.
