The man that died following a house fire in Co Monaghan over the weekend has been named locally.

Sean Geraghty of Shantonnagh, Castleblayney, and Oldcastle in Co Meath died from the injuries in sustained in the fire on Saturday night.

The blaze broke out in a single storey cottage in Lisinisky, Bawn close to the Cavan/Monaghan border. Two fire crews from Carrickmacross and Ballybay attended the scene at around 7.50pm

Mr Geraghty who was in his 60s was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda where he was later pronounced dead.
