A Monaghan engineering firm has encouraged more women to play their vital part in apprenticeship roles.

McAree Engineering recently scooped the 'Diversity in the Workplace' title at the Generation Apprenticeship Employer of the year awards.

Speaking to Northern Sound, Claire McAree revealed that current and future employees of all genders and ethnicities are a "critical component" to the continuing success of the business.

The Chief Financial Officer believes that everyone should get the opportunity to do whatever they want no matter who they are and the chance to be themselves and stand out.

This is something which she says is greatly instilled within the company at all times, and is evident by the increasing number of female staff at the engineering company:
