A Co Monaghan meteorologist is encouraging locals to be "safe in the sun" as temperatures continue to soar this weekend.
With temperatures expected to reach up to 28 degrees in parts weekend, RTÉ weather presenter Gerry Murphy says it's important for locals to take great care around water and protecting themselves in the sun.

The national forecaster says it's a "known medical fact" that people in Ireland can suffer from heat stress due to sustained temperatures over 25 degrees.
As a result, he has encouraged locals to take all necessary precautions to protect themselves from burning in the sun.
He also highlighted the importance of using sun cream and staying hydrated:
