Landowners, schools and community groups in Monaghan are being invited to apply for support to create wildlife areas.
This is a part of the 'Hare's Corner' initiative, which aims to make more space for nature.
The name pays comes from an old label for a piece of land that could not be farmed and was left to nature.
People in Monaghan can receive support to create a mini-woodland, a wildlife hedge, a heritage orchard, a wildlife pond and a ‘Plan for Nature' to enhance a natural site.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Patricia McCreesh, Biodiversity Officer, Monaghan County Council emphasised that this target for this initiative is wide.
The deadline for applications is Sunday 18th of January.
Patricia outlined some of the benefits of taking part in this project.
