A property marking initiative which was first put in place in Co Monaghan has been adopted nationwide.
The news was welcomed at a recent sitting of the Co Monaghan Joint Policing Committee.
Community Development Officer with Monaghan Co Council, Carol Lambe, told the meeting that the property marking scheme was now operational in a range of local authorities across the country.

According to Cllr Brian McKenna, property marking is was one of the major successes of the local JPC.
He added that the property marking initiative "is working" and that it is "nice to know" that something which was started in Co Monaghan is having a positive impact elsewhere in the country.
