A Co Monaghan company has been recognised for its climate action effort on the national stage in a competition that recognises community groups all over the county that achieved dramatic reductions of greenhouse gas emissions by making small changes to their everyday lifestyles.
'MTT Climate Clan' came fifth in the first ever 'Climate Heroes' competition after it achieved a total saving of 370kg of C02 emissions. The competition is an initiative of Global Action Plan, involving 68 community groups from around Ireland.
It is the first national climate competition for community groups in Ireland and aims to highlight how simple measures by individuals helps to reduce climate footprints on a daily basis at home, in communities and while at work.
A spokesperson said MTT Climate Clan was "quick to take up the challenge" and did the county proud in their achievements. "The actions taken by our citizens will have a lasting impact and hopefully be the catalyst for other local groups to follow suit," she added.
