Motorist arrested over driving offences in Cavan

Over the weekend members of the Cavan Roads Policing Unit were conducting a checkpoint when a driver decided to try to avoid detection. The car was then stopped and it transpired the driver was driving without insurance and there was no NCT or tax on the car.

The motorist also failed a roadside drug test and was arrested. On arrest blood samples were taken for further analysis. Fixed Payment Notices were also issued for excessively worn tyres and the driver had an appearance in Court for the other road traffic matters.
