It is "no wonder" that Monaghan has moved up the rankings of the Irish Business Against Litter (IBAL) litter league.
Monaghan has gradually moved up the rankings, having finished fourth last time out, and fifth in the survey before.
Conor Horgan, from the IBAL litter league has said that Monaghan is "edging" closer to the top.
He highlighted that problematic areas in Monaghan have been cleaned up, and that 7/10 sites monitored were top ranking.
There was also significant improvements recorded in Co. Cavan.
The Breffni County has moved from 19th position up to 8th.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan Show this morning, Conor explained why Monaghan was so successful.
He said: "Their not just doing it right this time around, Monaghan has been a consistent performer.
"They're edging their way closer to the top. Looking at the An Taisce report, seven of the 10 sites were top ranking. Vitrual absence of litter.
"Some that were heavily littered in previous surveys have been cleaned up - so it is a really great report.
"It is pretty much a blemish free report," Conor added.
