Over 920 first-time buyers in Cavan and Monaghan have accessed the Help to Buy scheme.
That's according figures released today by the Tánaiste, Simon Harris.
Since 2020, 461 first-time buyers in Cavan and 460 in Monaghan have accessed the Help to Buy to buy scheme.
The figures form part of a national total of over 64,000 individuals or couples supported by the scheme, with up to €30,000 available per first-time buyer.
The Tánaiste also welcomed Q1 2026 housing completion figures, which show 7,856 new homes completed nationally, a 32.9% increase on Q1 2025, and the strongest start to any year since records began in 2011.
In the Border region, 489 new homes were completed in three months, including 73 in Cavan and 80 in Monaghan.
Speaking on the figures, the Tánaiste said: "Housing is the Government's number one priority. Building more homes and delivering more homeownership. We need to give people the tools to help families get their keys to their own home. One such support is Help to Buy. Since 2020, 461 first-time buyers in Cavan have accessed this vital support. In Monaghan, the figure is 460. That is almost a thousand Border families with the keys to their own front door."
The Tánaiste added: "I want to thank our Fine Gael TD for Cavan–Monaghan, David Maxwell, and our Fine Gael Senator Joe O'Reilly, who are working with me every day to deliver for the people of Cavan and Monaghan."
Help to Buy provides first-time buyers with a refund of income tax and DIRT to help with the deposit on a new home or self-build, on properties valued up to €500,000.
