A report on the climate action performance of every county in 2024 was published this morning.
The 2024 Local Government Climate Action Key Performance Indicators Report monitors the adoption of climate measures across local authorities.
It also tracks how counties use allocated funding to deliver cycling and pedestrian infrastructure.
In 2024, €2.2 million was spent to deliver 2.4km of Active Travel projects in Co. Monaghan.
While Co. Cavan delivered 19 projects last year, an addition of 2.7km to the nation's Active Travel infrastructure.
In total, €3.8 million was earmarked for projects across Cavan and Monaghan.
Dublin City and Cork City were the largest recipients of funding, with Cork City developing the most infrastructural kilometres in 2024, at 22km.
Overall, the report said 1,012 Active Travel projects were active or completed in 2024, including 181km of cycling and pedestrian infrastructure.
