Private rental market 'totally dysfunctional,' says local councillor

That's according to councillor Paul Gibbons who raised his concerns at the most recent sitting of Monaghan County Council.

The current private rental market is totally dysfunctional.
That's according to councillor Paul Gibbons who raised his concerns at the most recent sitting of Monaghan County Council.
Cllr Gibbons outlined that there is currently only two houses available to rent on Daft.ie across the Castleblayney area.

One is valued at €1,600  in rent per month while the other is priced at €1,200 per month.
Cllr Gibbons warned that for anyone eligible for the housing assistance payment the support given to one adult and two kids is 515 euro a month.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Cllr Gibbons believes that Government has been "totally asleep at the wheel."
