The processing times for cases of domestic violence at local district courts averaged 14 and a half weeks.
That's according to the Courts Service Annual Report for 2025.
The report outlines the number of weeks it took for cases to be processed per district court last year.
In terms of domestic violence, the waiting time consists of the time from receipt of the application to the date when it is listed for hearing.
However, emergency domestic violence applications are dealt with on the date of the first application to the court.
The highest average number of weeks was in Monaghan District Court, at 16 weeks.
While the average was 13 weeks in Cavan District Court across the year.
The highest nationally was in Sligo District Court, at 21 weeks.
However, in the majority of District Court Districts, waiting time for the hearing of these applications have not increased despite an ongoing increase in the volume and complexity of cases.
