People Before Profit TD Brid Smith has called a rally outside the Dáil today, to highlight the number of women who face and experience violence in Ireland.
She says at least eight families are day are turned away from refuge centres and sent back into the arms of abusers. Deputy Smith says despite promises, the Government has still not provided enough safe places for women seeking refuge.
