Shannonside Northern Sound has received a nomination in this year's IMRO Radio awards. The awards mark the very best in Irish radio broadcasting, recognising those who have made contributions over the past year.
The Joe Finnegan Show has been nominated in the Regional Current Affairs category for coverage live from Ireland West Airport on the morning of American president Joe Biden's visit to Knock on the 14th of April.
During the programme, Joe spoke to Parish Priest of Knock, Fr Richard Gibbons and Ireland West CEO Joe Gilmore about their preparations ahead of the historic occasion. Poet Peter Costello recited his poem about the building of the airport in Knock and political commentator Sean McKiernan from Cavan explained the significance of the visit.
The winners of the IMRO Radio Awards 2023 will be announced at a gala ceremony at the Lyrath Estate Hotel, Kilkenny on the 6th of October.
