There has been a 62% increase in the number of domestic violence incidents reported in Cavan and Monaghan.
The numbers were given in response to a parliamentary question from Sorca Clarke.
Despite the rise in reports, court figures show just seven convictions in Cavan and four in Monaghan last year.
Deputy Clarke outlined another issue is the lack of refuge spaces, which puts demand on other refuge centres.
She described it as really not good enough to have nine counties, including Cavan and Monaghan, with no refuge centres.
Nationally, the figures indicated over 50,000 domestic abuse calls and almost 39,000 domestic abuse incidents were reported nationwide, last year.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan show today, Deputy Clarke said that the increase in reporting incidents is commendable, but there's still a gap.
