The Sing4Me Festival in Cavan which promotes positive mental health is kicking off tonight at Blessings Bar in the town. Now in its fifth year, it takes place over the course of the weekend and all monies raised will be donated to Cian's Kennels in Co Longford.
Organiser, Leanne Coyle says the event provides everyone with an opportunity to step out of their comfort zone and enjoy the music and festive atmosphere that's on offer. She highlighted how some young people are suffering from mental health difficulties because they are bored and have nothing to do.
Leanne added that there is solace in music and explained how it helped her in the past when she faced hard times. "This festival is a good way to get people out," she continued. "If you are stuck in your own little head and you are going through something negative, it's good to get out for the weekend.
"And, even if you come for one hour or for one night, it's important to come along and see your friends, and have a laugh."
