A Cavan hotel is among those leading the way when it comes to creating dementia friendly environments.
The Slieve Russell in Ballyconnell has recently been launched as Ireland's first dementia friendly hotel.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan show today, culture and people manager at the Slieve Russell Orla Murphy described the launch as a very proud moment for the hotel and how the cause was very close to their hearts.
She explained how it was important to them to train members of staff on dealing with guests living with dementia and investing in dementia friendly bedrooms.
Orla outlined why the cause was so important for the hotel. Carol Beattie, from the Cavan Alzheimer's association also spoke on the Joe Finnegan show.
She said that dementia friendly spaces are so important when considering families impacted by the illness.
