'Students also took part in a drugs and alcohol awareness workshop'

Members of the Carrickmacross Garda Community Engagement Unit visited St Louis Secondary School earlier this week where the focus was on health and safety when out socialising with friends.

The discussion centered around the 'Don't Pour Your Dreams Away' campaign which encourages young people to make good decisions while celebrating their Junior Cert results.

Gardai and Transition Year students were joined by youth worker Alan Ryan on the day. The students also took part in a drugs and alcohol awareness workshop which provided them with more knowledge and a better understanding of the needs to be considered when they are in a social setting.

Meanwhile, the Department of Education has confirmed that no date has been set for this year's Junior Cert results which are usually released during the second week of September.
