'Substantial' sum of money stolen from Monaghan church

Gardai indicate 'it's not too late to give the money back'

Gardai in Monaghan are investigating the theft of a substantial sum of cash that was left in St. Joseph Church on Park Street.

The theft occurred on Sunday the 9th January, between 12 noon and 3:30pm.

Gardai are asking anyone who visited the Church between those times and saw anything suspicious to contact them at Monaghan Garda Station on 047 77240.

They have also highlighted how it is not too late for the thief to return the money so it can be given back to its rightful owner.

Meanwhile, local gardai are also appealing for information after two diesel power washers were stolen from a farmyard in Corleck, Smithboro.

The incident occurred on the night of Tuesday 4th January last.

One of the power washers was a grey Honda and the other was a Hawk, which is red in colour.

Any information can be provided to Garda in Monaghan.
