Suspicious activity in the Keady area over the weekend is not being treated as terror related activity.

Police received a report on Friday, the 12th of March at around 9:10pm that, earlier that day, what was described as 'a bang' had been heard in the Castleblaney Road area of Keady.

Officers responded, and checks of the area were conducted and what is believed to be a beer keg was removed.

This is separate to an investigation that is on-going in the area of the Cavan road and Clones road of Newtownbutler, where reports of a suspicious device were made at the same time on Friday.

No roads have been closed but an investigation is continuing this morning.

Anyone travelling through the areas should be vigilant and if someone comes across, or notices any suspicious objects in the area they should not touch them.
