Three family members who died in suspected murder-suicide in north Kerry named locally

The incident happened in the townland Ballyreehan, near Lixnaw, last night.

The three family members who died in a suspected murder-suicide in north Kerry have been named locally.

Eileen O'Sullivan and her 23-year-old son Jamie were shot dead at their home in the townland Ballyreehan, near Lixnaw, last night.

The body of Eileen's partner, Mossie, was found in a nearby field alongside a shotgun shortly afterwards.

Gardai do not yet have any motive following the incident in north Kerry.

It is suspected Mossie shot Eileen and Jamie before taking his own life, but this has not yet been confirmed.

Superintendent Paul Kennedy from Listowel garda station says there are still many unanswered questions.

Meanwhile, parish priest Anthony O'Sullivan, who gave the family the last rites, says the community is in shock:
