Three motorists caught drink or drug driving in south Monaghan

Three motorists were detected driving under the influence of drink or drugs in south Monaghan over the weekend.

As part of the Roads Policing Unit's Christmas Road Safety Campaign, efforts have been ramped up to make local roads safer.

One driver failed a roadside oral fluid test and was arrested after testing positive for cannabis, with another testing positive for cocaine, and a third having alcohol in their system from drinking the night before.

Carrickmacross Gardai are using the incidents to remind people to not put their own lives or others at risk by driving while under the influence of drink or drugs, especially over the festive period.
