Verona Murphy has taken her seat as the first ever female Ceann Comhairle.
The Wexford TD was elected earlier on the third count, meaning she will chair and monitor the Dail.
She beat out competition from Sinn Féin's Aengus O'Snodaigh and Fianna Fáil’s Sean O'Fearghail and John McGuinness. Deputy Murphy officially took up her position in the past few minutes.
