The Emergency Department (ED) at Cavan General Hospital has advised the public that it is currently "exceptionally busy."
This latest notice follows a series of warnings that have been issued over the last week.
Anyone attending the ED with a non-urgent condition is warned that current waiting times of up to 8 hours can be expected.
In a statement to Northern Sound, Cavan Hospital described the situation as "frequent occurrence" which it sincerely apologises for.
In a move to help "free up" beds, patients and families are asked to "work with" the hospital at the point of discharge and accept placements that may be immediately available.
Additionally, the public is advised to only attend the Emergency Department if your condition is urgent and needs immediate attention.
