A female aged in her 50s has been taken to Cavan General Hospital following a serious road traffic collision.
Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a two vehicle road traffic collision that occurred at approximately 7:05am this morning, on the N87 between Ballyconnell and Belturbet, close to the Slieve Russell Hotel, in Co Cavan.
The driver of one of the vehicles, a female in her 50s, has been taken to Cavan General Hospital for treatment of injuries which are believed to be serious.

The road is currently closed in both directions and the scene preserved pending an FCI examination.
Investigations are ongoing.
