It's hoped works can commence in the coming months on a dangerous junction near Ballinagh following the competition of the tendering stages.
Cashel Cross has been the scene of several fatal and serious traffic accidents over the years.
An application for funding was made to the relevant department, after concerns about Cashel Cross being raised for a long number of years by local councillors in that area, At the Ballyjamesduff Municipal District meeting last week, John McGahern, senior executive engineer confirmed to Cllr Winston Bennett that the tenders have come back and its hoped that works will commence at the dangerous junction by the end of q1 of this year. Fine Gael's Winston Bennett said it was a very welcome development for commuters in the area.
