A chronic lack of taxis serving Monaghan is harming the county's night-time economy.
That's according to local Fine Gael councillor Alan Johnston. Cllr Johnston said Monaghan was suffering from a severe lack of taxis and he believes it's resulting in people deciding to stay at home instead.
He says consumers and businesses deserve an innovative, functioning taxi sector that provides choice.
The Monaghan Town councillor says the introduction of the likes of Uber would have a huge benefit to the region.
The Fine Gael councillor says a lack of taxi services is hurting small local businesses, especially in the hospitality sector.
