Listen Back: Clones councillor on bikers memorial decision

The National Bikers’ Memorial project has hit an “insurmountable obstacle” according to the Bikers’ Memorial Committee.

Last month (February 2026), Monaghan County Council confirmed that following a presentation on the public consultation and survey for the proposed memorial in Clones, elected members decided not to proceed with Páirc Phobail Séamus Mac Cába as a location.

However, a statement issued by the Bikers’ Memorial Committee last week said that the project is over.
