New figures from An Garda Síochána show burglary levels locally remain at some of the lowest rates in the State during the latest winter phase of Operation Thor.
Launched in 2015, the aim of Operation Thor is to tackle the traditional rise in burglaries during the darker winter months.
The Garda North Western Region, which includes Cavan and Monaghan, recorded an average of just two residential burglaries per day between the first of October and the end of March this year.
Nationally, residential burglaries were down 14 per cent on the previous winter phase, with just over 2,600 incidents reported.
Sergeant Joe Glackin, the Crime Prevention Officer for Cavan and Monaghan says there has been a 80% reduction in break-ins over the past 11 years joined Ronan Gargan earlier.
