Donegal made light work of Cavan to blow group 1 wide open in the All-Ireland Championship at Kingspan Breffni.
It was a tight beginning to the game with both sides going blow for blow.
Caolan McGolgan and Michael Murphy got Donegal back in front; before a fine score from Dara McVeety brought the sides level once again.
Donega scored four points in a row before a goal from Finbarr Roarty right on the stroke of half-time proved to be a real sucker-punch to Gabriel Bannigan’s side.
Things didn’t improve for the Cavan side in the second-half. Despite a two-pointer from Dara McVeety, Donegal maintained their dominance in the game.
Conor O’Connell’s goal in the 62th minute stamped home this point. Donegal grabbed a third goal right at the end from Caolan McGolgan.
Donegal scoring a 3-26 to 1-13 win. The defeat makes Cavan trip to Tyrone in two week’s time all the more important.
