Joe Maher passed away on Tuesday, January 23rd, peacefully at University College Hospital, Galway.

Predeceased by his wife Mary (nee Mulligan), his parents Denis and Ann, his brothers Fr. Michael and Patrick and his sisters Mary and Sheila.

Sadly missed by his sisters Kathleen (Oates), Christina (Chris Maher) and Theresa (Conway), brothers in law, sisters in law, numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

May he rest in peace.

Reposing at the premises of McElvaney Funeral Directors, Church Square, Monaghan (eircode H18K377) on Friday (26/01/2024) from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.                                                                                                                                                   Removal from his home on Saturday (27/01/2024) at 10.30 a.m., arriving at St. Macartan’s Cathedral, Monaghan for funeral Mass at 11 a.m.                                                                                                                                                                          Burial afterwards in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Magherarney.

Sincere condolences to Kathleen, Theresa , Christina and extended families on the sad passing of Joe. Joe was a true gentleman and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during these difficult times . I was privileged to have been friends with Joe and met and spoke with him on various occasions. He never complained despite the problems he faced and was always in good spirits. May his gentle soul rest in peace.
