'Dublin Airport is the largest emitter in the country'

The Climate Trace data has listed cement plants in Drogheda and Louth, and Ballyconnell in Co Cavan as the second and third largest contributors to greenhouse gas emissions in Ireland. Dublin Airport has been classed as the largest emitter, according to the findings of the new database.

The facility emitted over a million tonnes of gases last year alone - despite the reduction in flights due to the pandemic. While traffic in Dublin was listed as the fourth biggest emitter of greenhouse gas in the country.
