Monaghan GP, Illona Duffy has called on the Government to provide the Covid-19 Bonus Payment to GP practice staff.
She made the calls during this morning's Joe Finnegan Show.
She added that the Bonus Payment discussion centered around frontline staff - staff who put themselves at risk and continued to work throughout Covid-19.
The local GP said this was especially true during the early days of the pandemic when there was no PPE and difficulties trying to find masks.
These staff were exposed at a time when there was no vaccines and no protection, she added.
She said that staff throughout the country feel "hurt" that they have been excluded and not acknowledged as frontline workers.
"Staff throughout the country feel hurt that they have not been acknowledged as frontline workers," she continued.
"I remember during the very early stages when there were very few people were out and about and few places open even to get a sandwich in.
"Our staff had people cross the road rather than be on the same side as them because they were so afraid they would pick Covid-19 up from them."
