Outpatient waiting times reduce at local hospital

The local TD said this was thanks to the enormous efforts of our healthcare workers.

There has been a 100% reduction in those waiting over 12 months for an outpatient appointment at Cavan General Hospital.

Local Fianna Fáil TD, Deputy Niamh Smyth, has welcomed the update from Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly on the progress made to address hospital waiting lists last year in Cavan General Hospital.

Deputy Smyth said there was 1320 fewer patients waiting between six and 12 months which also represents a 40% reduction. The local TD said this was thanks to the enormous efforts of our healthcare workers, we have fewer patients waiting longer now than they did a year ago.

This follows on from a reduction in 2022, which was the first annual decrease in national hospital waiting lists since 2015. Deputy Smyth said that trend will continue in 2024 to reduces the numbers waiting for an appointment at the local hospital.
