PSNI receives 'extension' for detaining a man following Co Armagh murder

A police appeal for further information is backed by an award of up to £20,000 from Crimestoppers.

Detectives investigating the murder of 39-year-old Shane Whitla in Lurgan on Thursday, have been granted an extension of 31 hours for the further detention of a 29-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder.

Shane Whitla was discovered in Lord Lurgan Park at approximately 8.15pm and, following a post mortem examination, it was confirmed that he died from gunshot wounds.

The father-of-four was shot a number of times, including once in the back.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward and speak with them.
