As of yet, Heather Humphreys has not indicated either way following Mairead McGuinness’ decision to not run.

The former rural affairs minister says volunteers have played a key role in making sure rural communities thrive and prosper.

The former Cavan Monaghan TD said she would back whoever is the Fine Gael candidate.

The Monaghan native served in multiple ministries, most recently as Minister for Social Protection.

The former minister hasn’t ruled out a bid for the Aras.

Cathaoirleach of the Monaghan Municipal District, Sean Conlon expressed his "delight" stating that due to her previous work obligations, the former Minister would have been overseas representing the Government at this time of year.

The Farney Foundation was founded by local man Brian Rudden and is a non-profit entity that promotes and supports anyone and anything associated with Co. Monaghan all over the world.

The Monaghan woman has represented the people of Co Monaghan locally and nationally for over 21 years.

This was Minister Humphreys' last event with Blayney Blades as her role as Minister.

According to the Irish Independent list, Heather Humphreys will receive a lump sum of €18,946.50 along with a termination payment of €66,312.74 from her time in Dáil Éireann.
